Things I Always Carry in my Makeup Bag
This post is written in the partnership with Prene Bags. All opinions are my own.
What's in your makeup bag? If you take a sneak peek into mine, you'll find it quite minimalist. I'm not too experimental when it comes to makeup and I tend to stick with a particular product if I find that it suits me well - whether it's a game-changing mascara, my favourite red lipstick or a perfect makeup bag. Speaking of the latter, I believe that I might have just found one: this neoprene cosmetic bag has been a great place to organise all my beauty products. It doubles as a travel makeup bag and is fully machine-washable, so you will not have to worry about any leaks or spillages.
So what's inside that bag? Scroll down to find out!
Before we start talking makeup, let's first talk cleansing. It's been a while before I've finally discovered that one perfect cleanser that would gently remove all the dirt and makeup without leaving my skin feeling overly dry. The Kiehl's Calendula Face Wash has become my cleanser of choice and I will definitely be re-purchasing it once it's used up.
I have tried a lot of different moistruisers until I came across the Drink Of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer by Tarte. I have first got myself a tester when I made a large skincare purchase and I've been loving that product ever since. It's got a light texture and it keeps my skin looking fresh and pump throughout the day.
Eyes & Brows
I rarely wear eyeshadow but I do love a good mascara - the one for thick, long eyelashes. This is probably the only part where I actually love experimenting - I've tested a lot of different mascaras and I've got a few favourites: Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara, Better Than Sex Mascara by Too Faced and Mac In Extreme Dimension Lash. It's a different story when it comes to brows - my two essential products are Benefit Ka-BROW! Eyebrow Cream in 6 Deep and Mecca Maxima Cat Eye Definer brush I use to apply it.
I have been using the same Maestro Fusion Makeup Foundation by Giorgio Armani for years - I love its liquid texture and the effect of naturally glowing skin. Normally, I only apply it to the area around my nose following with the Ysl Touche Éclat - Radiant Touch Concealer. This concealer is something I never leave the house without - it provides great coverage yet is very lightweight and is perfect to quickly touch up your makeup during the day.
Lips & Cheeks
I love the "rosy cheeks" look, so when it comes to blush I opt for the liquid ones. I'm currently using the Juicy Shaker by Lancome, which is sold out almost everywhere. I'm looking to try out the Beauty Light Wand by Charlotte Tilbury - I'd love to know your thoughts on this one if you've already used it!
I am a huge fan of red lipstick as I believe that it's the only colour that truly suits me and I secretly dislike pink tones on my lips (although I still own a few of those too). My two all time favourite red lipsticks are Mac Cremesheen Lipstick in Sweet Sakura and Chanel Rouge Allure in 99 Pirate - they are so worth the investment and are truly the best.
I absolutely love using highlighters especially during the summer months. During the daytime, I opt for the liquid formula with Lancome ne MD No Highlighter Highlighter being one of my favourites. During the night, I use more intense powder-based formulas - the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sun Dipped Glow Kit is the one I'd recommend.
The makeup finishing products I'm currently using are the Mac Prep + Prime Fix+ Mattifying Mist and the YSL Le Compact Encre De Peau - a foundation that doubles as a finisher which I apply using The Marc Jacobs Bronzer Brush.
Hope you've enjoyed learning more about my favourite products and let me know if you have tried any of those in comments!
